Offshore Racing July 2016
The July race series is again being run as a tandem event. The IRC Class Trophy the Carlsberg Trophy and the NHC Class Trophy the David Hague Trophy.
Race 3 Report 20th July:
The 3rd race of the series saw 8 - 12kt SW winds making a spinnaker start inevitable. The congestion around the start line with yachts trying to get their spinnakers prepared made things very difficult in the approach to the line.
The Next event for those new to racing and the exisiting racing fleet.
Join us for the 2 Stage Race round Ynys Môn 2016 from Holyhead. (Not to be confused with the Round Anglesey Race from Menai Bridge on 2016-08-06). This is not a SERIOUS race more a chance for us to have fun sailing to Menai Bridge for a "De-Briefing" in the Liverpool Arms.

Our First Starter Race
The object of this race was to get more yachts out on club events. This was a great success with an entry of 7 yachts. A wide variety of yachts took part including some of the normal Holyhead racing fleet. On Lily and Incantation crews were mainly new recuits or swaps so a lot of different sailing techniques were discussed and attempted. This race was course 5 on the club list and takes in Meath, Penrhos, Meath, Penrhos, Clipera and Outer Distance Mark. The weather was superb with a consistent 12 - 19 kt South Westerly breeze and plenty of sunshine.
Here is the track
Robert Jordan a member of our club is looking for crew to sail to Spain with him in August.
The boat is a Sigma 33 ood, he is carrying out this trip as a qualifier to get the YM ocean qualification hense the 600m from point to point. He will be doing sextant work all the way. He's looking for total of 4 including himself, but could go to 5. The boat does not have a zero rating so it cannot be on a commercial basis, although he is a Yacht Master instructor.
